Listen
It softened my bone at the very first three notes.
Now I suddenly remember the answer to a question they asked me a few days ago. We were talking about the Taiwanese singers, and most of the names they mentioned were somewhat distant to me. They asked, why did you listen to then back then? I [...]

A piece of music can be very different when performed by a great pianist or a mediocre. I think this is the first time I am touched by Beethoven's music. His music to me was always just plain good, but never touched me like Mozart's symphonies or Chopin's piano do. And among all the instruments, [...]

I was crazy about Simple Plan before they became popular. Their first album "No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls" totally rocked, and I never get enough of them during that period of time. It's different from what I used to listen to. It's refreshing. It's energetic... It's what I call kids-rock. It's designed to make you [...]

Today I ran out of taost, so I got a grande mocha and a apple muffin after I withdrew some money from BOA. I was debating whether I should spend that much on breakfast, but then when I saw the price of a muffin is 1.75, which is just a little bit higher than the [...]

Sauvignon Blanc.
Riesling.

I got in touch (well, sort of) with some old acquaintance recently, and by chance discovered something about somebody of whom I didn't intend to remind myself. But seeing how differently they acted made me cant help but wonder how one can be so cruel.
Fantacies has long gone, but that face still resembles the prototype [...]

The Scarlet Pimpernel by Baroness Orczy

My third story is about death. When I was 17 I read a quote that went something like "If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you'll most certainly be right." It made an impression on me, and since then, for the past 33 years, I have looked in the mirror [...]

When I first watched this episode, I felt heartborken for Leo. But at the end of the episode, there's the sunrise on the horizon that washed away the feeling of sorrow. It's the power of hope and goodness.
However, when I watched it again with commentary, the feeling aroused again and was more distinct because this [...]

Tuesday night, cheap movie night.
(not that the movie is cheap, but the price is cheap.)
Due to the schdule, we decided to see Fever Pitch which I didn't have a great interest in seeing. I've seen the trailer several times. It's quite funny but I don't think it's my type and the guy seems a bit [...]

I'm emotionally disabled.
The other day when I was watching a touching TWW episode, I suddenly found that I'm like the kinda cold-blooded murderer who are somehow easily affected by those artificial intened-to-make-you-cry shows.

was like a period I tried to bury.
I couldn't wait to begin a new life without the mistakes I made in the past. I was ashamed and felt humiliated, and I was too young to deal with those issues. Now when I look back, I realized that I gave up many precious things...

An only child
Alone and wild
A cabinet makers son
His hands were meant
For different work
And his heart was known
To none --
He left his home
And went his lone
And solitary way
And he gave to me
A gift I know I never
Can repay
A quiet man of music
Denied a simpler fate
He tried to be a soldier once
But his music wouldnt wait
He earned [...]

People you love will turn their backs on you
You'll lose your hair

But you still don't like to leave before the end [...]

Saw this MV on Na's blog. I was mezmerized by the power of this music and amazed to find that music French produced is not necessarily soft and lazy. They have good rock too! (Okay, I know it's stupid. Rock is universal.) But I think the real reason that I've rarely paid attention to French [...]

We are young, heartache to heartache we stand
No promises, no demands
Love is a battlefield
We are strong, no one can tell us we’re wrong
Searchin’ our hearts for so long, both of us knowing
Love is a battlefield
You’re beggin’ me to go, you’re makin’ me stay
Why do you hurt me so bad?
It would help me to know
Do I [...]

I was anxious about watching the Tony's, and it turned out to be awesome except for some minor defections, such as Hugh Jackson's low appearences and some procedural flaws. Still, it's an enjoyable show.

a fun song widely sung among the people during French Revolution era
Ca ira
Refrain:
Ah! ça ira, ça ira, ça ira,
Les aristocrates à la
lanterne!
Ah! ça ira, ça ira, ça ira,
Les aristocrates on les
pendra!
Le despotisme expirera,
La liberté triomphera,
Ah! ça ira, ça ira, ça ira,
Nous n'avons plus ni
nobles, ni prêtres,
Ah! ça ira, ça ira, ça ira,
L'égalité partout régnera.
L'esclave [...]

What's post-rock. I've been reading articles on post-rock board, and after finished a bunch of angry and funny articles, I finally got a vague idea.
post-rock is actually, well, let me quote wiki
using rock instrumentation for non-rock purposes, using guitars as facilitators of timbres and textures rather than riffs and powerchords.
I decide not to go further [...]

How to categorize a band, a musician, or a piece of music has always been controversial. Take a common expression, "ten people would have eleven opinions." When you really think of it, you'd understand why it's difficult. I don't think a music maker (whether it's a person or a band) would sit down and say, [...]
